Rugby Race Day, June 23, 2018

23 June 2018

Rugby and Racing – 7s and 15s rugby, showcasing Girls rugby in the region also. Codettes, Echicknas and hopefully a few Dalby Wheatchix will bring their talents to the race meeting. Playing on the centre oval after Race 2 (see racing program below)

Races will gallop out at noon, Chicks Rugby 7s will be tackling the in between slots and Cgrade will lead the Risdon Cup charge after 3pm, against the Chincilla River rats,  A grade following against old foes and rivals, the Condamine Cods before a full boat races schedule and Route 33 with Horses on repeat well into the evening.

The fashions are always a treat, with racegoers pitching their apparel between Flemington and Footy appropriateness.  Prizes awarded accordingly. Count on leather, fur, felt and hip boots.  And that will just be the jockeys.

Cool band into the evening in cool weather mitigated by gas heaters and warm beverages.  Winter sports in the Bush, can’t beat it.

Lots of prize money for the first day of our winter carnival so expect some stiff competition which will be in keeping with the stiff beverage you may need to ward off the cold at dark.  We will not be providing Broccoli Lattes, but hot milk laced with actual caffeine or the other legal drugs of your choices will be available from the bar.  We can even source some Lem Sip for those feeling a little under the weather.

Free camping at the Park.  $7 gate entry.  What more could you want from a sporting bonanza over the Winter Solstice.  Swimming in the Horse exercise pool is inadvisable at this time.
